"Coping with schizoaffective disorder, anxiety disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder, I would find myself compulsively thinking about the "what if's", especially, if I had a a seizure while on job.  To my surprise employers were willing to accommodate for my needs.  With OSP Temporary Employment Agency case management support I worked through the anxiety of starting an job and have completed employment assignments.  I now see employment in a more positive manner."

A very inspiring Thank you Letter one of our Employment Specialists received:

"Jay, I now have the exact job I wanted and I want to thank you, Leanne, and Paula for the encouragement and good advice.  With your encouragement, I  became more aggressive in the job hunting approach.  I learned that you can't just send out resumes and applications and sit back and wait for what you want.  You have to work at it.  Follow up on every lead like a detective.  Expand your search areas with the links in ALIS.  Make use of all the resources that OSP has-especially your Case Worker and Employment Specialist.  They can help with the frustration, depression, and the "What's the use?" attitude if things don't work out as quickly as you want.  For the interview I used Leanne's advice and looked up interview skills on ALIS.  You have to prepare for the interview carefully-the website gave suggestions I wouldn't have  thought of in a million years.  Do the research, find everything out that you can about the company, how it's run, what it does-as much detail as you can.  Also do research on the job itself so you know exactly what will be required of you.  That way you will know which of your skills to highlight.  The website also tells you how to go about answering the interview "scenario" questions.  It's a good idea to think of how you will answer BEFORE the interview.  And finally, practice what you will say and how you will say it.  The advice from your Case Worker and ALIS website really works.  I have the job I wanted and the salary I wanted.  A HUGE Thank-you to all the staff at OSP."

I graduated from NAIT in June of 2006 after successfully completing their Computer Network Administration course.  Unable to find employment I went to On Site Placement Services for their assistance where I met Tracey.  Together we came up with a comprehensive plan to find employers who were willing to hire a person with a disability.  She gave me job resources,  assisted with creating a professional resume, suggested workshops I could attend, and was always very positive and encouraging.  On my behalf she contacted employers in my field, submitted my resume, an suggested other positions I might be able to apply for.  Ultimately I was successful in finding a job that I love to do, and with an employer who I really enjoy working for.  Being employed has changed my life for the better and in large part I owe that to On Site Placement Services, and especially to Tracey for the assistance and guidance I received from her.
