 FUTURES PROJECT

 

This Project is offered on behalf of Service Canada.  The criteria for admission, services and guidelines are established by Service Canada

 

The goal of this project is to assist individuals with disabilities to find and retain employment, *return to school, or achieve *self employment (see * below)

 

  Futures:  
 

Most participants in this project have either not worked for a long time or they  have been under-employed.

 
 
  • Participants often receive AISH, CPP-D, or AEI benefits
  • Many begin by participating in Enhanced Life Skills and Employability skills workshops
  • Many participate in certificate Courses such as First Aid and WHMIS.
  • Most successfully achieve and maintain employment (often on a part time basis)

Eligible individuals:

 
 
  • Are currently unemployed or  working less than 20 hours per week
  • Have not worked more then 920 hours in the last two years
  • Have not collected Employment Insurance (EI) Benefits in the last three years.
 
  Unique Features:  
 
  • Wage subsidized employment is available
  • Supports positions with reduced hours (3 - 15 hours per week).
  • Some participants choose to *Return-to-School.
  • A few participants achieve *Self-Employment

*While Futures Project Case Workers provide support and coaching for participants wanting these two options, we are not able to provide funding for Return-to-School or Self Employment outcomes.
